What are gang sheets? (and why you'll love them!)

If you’ve found yourself as a newbie in the world of printing, you might have come across the term “gang sheets” and wondered what all the fuss is about.

In this blog, we’ll give you the lowdown on how gang sheets are both time and cost-efficient in printing and why you should consider using them:

What Are Gang Sheets?

Gang sheets involve grouping multiple designs or items onto a single large sheet for printing. Instead of printing each design individually, you load them all onto one sheet. These designs can be the same or different, provided they share the same printing specs (e.g., one colour for Varsity or full colour for Original).

They are especially popular in DTF (direct-to-film) printing, where precision and maximising material usage are crucial.

Things to Note About Press & Peel Gang Sheets

Size: Gang sheets are 55 cm wide by 100 cm tall.

File Format: Save gang sheets as EPS, AI, PDF, or PNG (avoid JPEG due to background colour issues).

Colour Mode: Preferably use CMYK for consistency with print.

Transparency: Ensure the background is transparent before saving.

File Preparation:

  • Use vector formats for editable designs.
  • Embed all images into the file.
  • Convert text to vector shapes by creating outlines.
  • Check dimensions and fill the gang sheet as much as possible.
  • Saving: Save files with the highest resolution possible and keep "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities" checked for future edits.

To Order: Upload the finalised gang sheet directly to the Press & Peel website.

4 Reasons Why You’ll Love Gang Sheets For DTF Printing

They Save Time

One of the biggest perks of gang sheets is how they streamline the printing process. By consolidating designs onto a single sheet, we cut down on setup time and reduce the number of prints we need to manage. This is just one reason why we achieve our fast 24-48 hour turnaround times and you get your prints quicker.

Affordable

Printing multiple designs on one gang sheet is like buying in bulk – it’s cheaper. You’re using fewer materials and less energy per item, which can significantly lower your production costs. Plus, with reduced waste and fewer setup charges, your overall expenses get a nice trim.

Flexible Designs

Gang sheets provide great flexibility in design placement. You can arrange different sizes and shapes of designs on the same sheet, achieving a better yield than if they were printed in squares or individually.

Reduced Waste

Gang sheets maximise material use and minimise waste (what a win!). Since you’re fitting as many designs as possible onto one sheet, there’s less leftover space and fewer scraps. This efficient use of materials is not only cost-effective but also better for the environment.
